We expect this growth to increase in the coming years following the recent worldwide assessments that Venture Capital has been recognised as one of the most promising asset classes in Alternative investments.
According to Preqin, in 2019, a total of $297bn was invested and $391bn realised through exits. This smashed the previous high of $177bn set in 2018, and will fuel fundraising activity in 2021. Venture Capital’s attractivity lies within the opportunities ahead.
For many years, Luxembourg has been established as the number one European centre for investment funds, second worldwide to the US. Home to the European Investment Fund, who in collaboration with the Société Nationale de Crédit et d’Investissement (SNCI), created the Luxembourg Future Fund, a EUR 150 million fund which invests directly or indirectly in Venture Capital funds and SMEs to foster the sustainable development of Luxembourg strategic sectors.
