Luxembourg: Extension for filing of the 2019 tax returns

In brief
On 21 December 2020, and in the context of the announcement of a second lockdown, the Luxembourg Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, made a statement according to which the deadlines for the filing of the 2019 tax returns will be extended as follows:
Up to 31 March 2021 for individuals tax returns and municipal business tax returns for individuals. This will be formally confirmed through the introduction of a draft bill in front of the Luxembourg Parliament in early January 2021.
No formal similar extension is provided as such for the 2019 corporate income tax returns. The direct tax authorities have however been instructed to show exceptional flexibility and not to impose penalties for late filing for those tax returns as long as they are filed by 31 March 2021 at the latest.
