Frontier AI models introduce new cybersecurity challenges across all industries. 

As a first warning signal, on 7 July, European supervisory authorities issued a coordinated warning urging organisations to take emerging AI-enabled cyber risks seriously. In parallel, the ECB communicated with CEOs of significant banks, underlining the importance of assessing existing cyber defences and defining appropriate action plans.

The message is clear: traditional cyber controls must be reassessed, tested and strengthened to ensure they remain properly designed and operationally effective in the face of rapidly evolving AI-driven threats.

During this special edition of our Internal Audit Forum, our experts will introduce the concept of Frontier AI cyber risk, outline the key actions organisations should consider, and discuss the role internal auditors can play in providing assurance over preparedness, resilience and response capabilities.
