Luxembourg invests in biomedical research

The Luxembourg government announced on 5 June 2008 the launch of a strategic partnership between the national public research centres (CRP Santé, Henri Tudor and Gabriel Lippmann) including the University of Luxembourg and three renowned US research institutes: The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Phoenix, the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) in Seattle and the Partnership for Personalized Medicine (PPM) in Phoenix.

The objective of the strategic partnership is to develop a pole of expertise in Life Sciences and molecular medicine in Luxembourg through several common research projects using new methods and a personalised approach in treatment and diagnostics. This long-term partnership will provide Luxembourg with an excellent opportunity to diversify its economy, to position itself at the leading edge in Life science's research and to enhance heathcare for the Luxembourg population.

PwC took an active part in the conduct of this project, participating in the early contacts and assisting the government during the planning phase of this partnership. In this global initiative, PwC US and PwC Luxembourg combined both their expertise and human resources to coordinate this project between the United States and Luxembourg.
