Banking and Professionals of the Financial Sector (PFS): Case Study

Consulting - Business process re-engineering and system selection of an asset management division of a major Luxembourg bank

The issue

The project involved the Belgium and Luxembourg entities of the group. It consisted both in a portfolio management system selection and in the analysis of the current processes in place in order to provide recommendations for new optimised processes enabled by the system.

Our approach

  • Definition of the functional and technical requirements to be provided by the portfolio management system;
  • Workshops on the selection of key portfolio management system to complete the request for proposal (RFP);
  • Analysis of responses given by the system providers to the RFP and testing of demo-system as well as of sites already in production;
  • Recommendations on the system that best responded to the banks functional and technical requirements;
  • In parallel with the portfolio management system selection, analysis of the current private banking and fund management processes (from front to back-office);
  • Recommendations for optimized processes to implement via the selected system.

The outcome

  • As-is and To-be Private Banking and Fund Management processes;
  • Validated RFP document to be sent to system providers and validated list of criteria allowing for the selection of target system providers;
  • Comparative analysis of system providers based on RFP responses and full documentation of the testing process;
  • Final report on the system selection process and on the recommendations for the most adequate system provider.
