The issue

The strategy unit of the Bank requested PwC’ assistance in order to analyse current market trends in the Private Banking and Asset Management sectors. The market analysis focused on a comparative perspective of various European countries with the key objective to position the Bank amongst its main competitors.

Our approach

  • The analysis covered two global topics at European and Luxembourg level which where:
    • The Private Banking Market. This section covered elements such as growth and revenue generation, client segmentation and behaviour, products and services, key performance indicators, organisational and operational models and distribution channels;
    • The Asset Management Market. This section covered elements such as savings rates, investors expectations, key market players, products and distribution networks.
  • Research and data analysis were undertaken by PwC Private Banking and Asset Management experts and based on key internal sources such as the European Private Banking Survey, previous project experiences, PwC’s knowledge databases as well as additional third party publications.

The outcome

  • A detailed report on major Private Banking and Asset Management trends allowed our client to understand how the current market is evolving and adapting in order to remain competitive in the future. The report included a detailed benchmark positioning the Bank in comparison with its competitors in terms of market strategy, clients, products, pricing, technology, organisation, people, costs and performances;
